The Club Marine Perth International Boat Show is excited to announce popular television duo Nick Duigan and Andrew Hart from Hook, Line and Sinker will be special guests at this year’s Show.

Well known for their light-hearted approach to their time on the water fishing together, they are looking forward to being back in WA. During their time at the boat show, they are particularly keen to relay their experiences with reviving old boats, which has become a real passion of theirs.

The pair have famously done up a string of old boats for their show, starting when they found an old 6.9m Bertram a few years back and made it a home for what was then the world’s biggest outboard engine, a Yamaha 350hp V8. Called Beast, it sparked something of an obsession for Nick and Andrew, even though they still have this boat and also run around the ocean in a lovely Bar Crusher for their show.

Over the past decade they have restored more than a dozen project boats, including a couple of Haines Hunters they’ve worked on this year which are more than 50 years old. These are the experiences they want to share with boat show patrons.

Boat Show regular Scott Coghlan from Western Angler magazine spoke to Andrew Hart recently to have a chat about their television program – and about what they will be doing while they in in WA this September.

“The thing that sets us apart from other fishing shows on TV is the time we dedicate every season to doing up old boats!” Andrew said. “Yes, we are fortunate and grateful to be able to spend plenty of time at sea in a brand new Bar Crusher each season, but we also challenge ourselves, our budget and our imaginations by breathing new life into something that’s old, clapped out and unreliable.”

Andrew said he believed these adventures had struck a chord with their viewers and would prove popular with showgoers as well. “That’s what our presentation will be about at the Perth Boat show – our experiences, good and bad, about doing up old boats,” he said. “We’ve found a lot of people are wanting to talk about it and want to do their own projects. You can get quite an old boat and do it up.”

“And we will touch on what we are currently filming from a fishing side of things as well – which is a road trip, right the way around the country in an anti-clockwise direction.”

The pair set off from Melbourne back in March and the next leg of the road trip will take in Cape York.
Although they won’t be filming while in Perth for the boat show, they will be seen around WA later in the year as part of this journey. The road trip will see them fishing all the way from top to bottom of WA and Hart expects them to back in our waters around November. Andrew is looking forward to fishing in the Kimberley and also trying for billfish off Exmouth.

Catch Andrew and Nick at the 2018 Club Marine Perth International Boat Show each day on the Engel Aquatank Fishing Stage at 11.30am and 2.20pm.
